  1. Early Modern French Women Writers (EMFWW)

     Working with faculty and students in the departments of French & Italian and History, the ETRC is conducting its French initiative in consultation with the internationally-known ARTFL Project. We focus on French women writers of the 15th-18th centuries. Texts already available or soon to be mounted include works by Caumont de la Force, Marie de Gournay, Pernette Du Guillet, Louise Labé, Mlle de Montpensier, Marguerite de Navarre, Christine de Pizan, Diane de Poitiers, and Madeleine de Scudéry. We also have a working list of several other women writers from the period, and other texts are in process.
     The EMFWW Project is part of the ETRC's Women's Studies Digitization Project, an initiative with two major goals:
     (1) to support current areas of programmatic strength by expanding the range of research materials available;
     (2) to provide faculty and students with an opportunity to learn more about the issues involved in digitizing texts.

  2. Early 19th Century Russian Readership & Culture (ENCRRC)

     The ENCRRC is a collection of resources on Russian readership, culture & the press in the early nineteenth century. It consists of: a) a TEXT ARCHIVE of sources taken from fiction, journals, memoirs & travel accounts; and b) SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS, including: (1) selected bibliographies of primary and secondary literature; (2) a searchable database of social and geographic information on approx. 12,000 subscribers to a variety of Russian imprints, 1825-1846 (currently being mounted); (3) an expanding file of portraits, title page and other contextual images (under construction); and (4) a variety of reference materials.

  3. Women's Travel Writing, 1830-1930 (WTW)

     WTW is the second component of the ETRC's Women's Studies Digitization Project. Working with faculty and students in various departments including English, French & Italian, History, Anthropology & Women's Studies, the ETRC is digitizing texts by women travel writers in the period 1830-1930. We emphasize American women travellers, but include selected European women travellers from the same period. Our project coverage begins with 1830, in order not to conflict with the well-known Women Writers Project at Brown University. We also try not to duplicate texts available from Indiana's Victorian Women Writers Project (which focuses on British women writers, 1830-1901).

  4. Undergraduate Victorian Studies Online Teaching Anthology (UVSOTA)

     Less ambitious than our three other projects, UVSOTA is a new initiative recently funded by CLA to make available up to 60 articles selected by faculty from the Library's extensive Victorian press collection; these fully-searchable texts (complete with page images) will serve as online background reading for undergraduates in courses on Victorian Studies in particular, and 19th-century Europe in general.

  1. Spanish American Texts

     The ETRC is beginning to facilite a small Minnesota contribution to the MOLLAS Electronic Library of Spanish Texts hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Minnesota's texts will also be mounted on our server as part of a modest new collection entitled Spanish American Texts. The first Minnesota text currently under production is Rafael Montoro's manual of political ethics published in 1902.
     
     

  2. Wright American Fiction Project

     Nine libraries in the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) are cooperating on an ambitious three-year project to digitize the novels listed in Lyle Wright’s bibliography, American Fiction 1851-1875. There are currently 2,341 texts included (2,027 unedited, 314 fully edited and encoded) by 1,150 authors. The University of Minnesota has been contributing to this project since its inception.
